Live Score Card Blog: Toronto Blue Jays @ Arizona Diamondbacks

Notes:

Last night the I found myself cheering for the Tampa Bay Rays as they played the Yankees in New York. The Yankees lost which I always like but in this case it keeps the Jays just one game behind the evil pay-rolers for 2nd place, 6 behind Tampa Bay. The Jays have a thing about the Rays, they can't beat them. I wondering, when they meet this year, if their luck will change.

Arizona 4th
C. Jackson strikes out swinging and Buck can't hold on to the ball.
Normally that would mean the batters not out until he leaves the field of play or is tagged out, or forced at first; but - as the FAN590 radio colour guy (who gets to do half the innings play by play because Jerry Howarth is a stand up guy) - points out, because the bases are loaded MLB rules say the catcher doesn't need to tag him, the runners are not forced to run - he's just out.
Makes sense because it would mean the catcher would just step on the plate and force the runner from 3rd. A waste of time
Only problem - looking back at my score card - the bases weren't loaded! Runners were at 1st and 2nd. So Jackson just didn't notice the ball was dropped, and walked away - and Buck let him. And my supposition above that I thought made sense, doesn't make sense; if the catcher can't find the ball the runner at third could score. What probably happened was Buck saw nobody noticed and put the ball in his pocket so to speak.
What a waste of space. What is that guys name anyway?

The radio guys are driving me nuts, every other thing they say is WRONG! I exaggerate... but there are plenty, and it f*cks up the card - I'm constantly making corrections or checking to make sure over at ESPN - and then I'm catching up all the time.
This isn't the way scoring the game is supposed to be. It's supposed to be a relaxing listen as you jot down the icons as the plays happen - this on the other hand is hell on earth.

As you can tell my humors back; I've caught up. I turned off the radio for 15 minutes and just looked up everything at ESPN, by then Jerry Howarth was back in the chair.

D. Haren, turns around and starts arguing the third strike call in the 8th. I'm yelling at the radio throw him out!! :)
